Ok for context I bought 3 BLs recommended by a twitter thread bc Tokyopop was doing a pride sale & 10% to LA LGBT center and I have no idea what I was expecting from this potentially furry adjacent but it was more wholesome than expected besides a funny
lowkey sex pollen
ahem incident about midway through. I love art, BLs, and fiction. One brief moment of violence in the beginning but overall lighthearted & hopeful?!

This was my first Manga! I loved reading every moment. There are so many things I want to say but it might spoil reading this. I’m so happy with they way it ended. I want to buy this when it comes out and read it again.

ahaha what the hell

A super cute story that made me really wish that there was more to this universe. I want to see more of Yagi's journey as a bookseller and as a little goat in love.

I received this book from Netgalley/Publisher in exchange of an honest review.

I just cannot resist manga about bookstores! I just have to read them! And this one sounded adorable featuring a goat that eats books… but shouldn’t. XD

next level media consumption, literally eating the books 🐐

By the description, I expected this book to be more PG than R, which wasn't the case. There is an explicit scene. I didn't feel that it took away from the story, and it didn't seem gratuitous.

Yagi can taste the story when he eats a book (which he often can't resist, b/c he's a goat). At the bookstore, he sets up displays of books with the same "flavor," which would be so helpful when trying to find a book of a certain type. I wish I lived in this city to check out the store.

The overall story is very sweet. Ookami, the scary bookstore manager, is a broody, reserved type, while Yagi is a naive, younger man. The tension while readers wait for Yagi to figure out that Ookami likes him is almost too much, and then the story resolves quickly into them moving in together. I know it's romance, so this shouldn't be surprising, but I kept getting Jane Austen vibes from their interactions.

I loved the art, and all the characters are well developed. I want to know more about Chitah! Since it's a yaoi/BL story, it includes LGBTQ rep. I feel it would be a good introduction to the genre and to manga as a whole, as long as you know it'll get explicit. Since it's set in a bookstore, it appeals to people who love books, so if you've been thinking of getting into manga, check it out.

I received an advanced copy from Netgalley for an open and honest review.
