About the Book: Brennan likely forgot what “everything’s okay” and “calm” means. Disturbance at a dig site, fresh set of bones among the old. Media appear out of nowhere, and find things out that Brennan would rather they didn’t. Her friend is sick, the men in her life are… Not alright. So a repeated murder pattern found on other bodies discovered in the area – just uncalled for.

My Opinion: To a certain point I absolutely loved Bones series. Every episode was great in its own way. But then the love and romance began, the madness it all induced, and I couldn’t watch it anymore. These here books remind me nothing of the good parts of Bones. Luckily, they also rarely remind me of the bad part of Bones. This book being the sad exception, as my eyeballs almost rolled out of my skull. The rating it got from me is purely for the detective side.

Temperance Brennan thought she was being roped in to helping a colleague out by leading an undergraduate archaeological dig for just a few weeks but when a fresh body is discovered Tempe’s plans change very quickly. Another great read in the Temperance Brennan series that jumps to action right from the beginning. I really enjoyed how the mystery slowly unfolded but drew the reader in as each clue was laid out. And what made this story even more fun, Tempe ends up sharing a beach house with ex-husband Pete and new boyfriend Andy. Lots of humor and action, great read!

The plot was good, though it parts it tended to drag on with overly long explanations of thought processes. Brennan and her quickness to anger are a bit annoying, and I find it makes it hard to identify with her when she gets in trouble. Overall, decent book and might read again or recommend to someone else.

After such a disappointment with Cross Bones, it was refreshing to have Reichs back in form. I didn't struggle at all to read this book, and had the familiar feeling of not wanting to put my copy down towards the end.
All the usual twists and turns you'd expect from a book like this. It was well written and everything you expect from Reichs.

maybe getting Mary hooked on Reichs wasn't such a great idea. I've started ordering her a copy from Amazon when I get mine...

It was a great book. The ending leaves you wondering who will steal Tempe's heart. I'm not sure which one I want to win her heart.
