Fluffy and pointless. No closure at the end of it. Don't waste your time.

I think you have to be in the right place in your life to appreciate this book. I'm at a place, like the girls in this book, where I've drifted away from my best friend growing up. It's a hard thing and it sucks, but this story is really good at showing how it happens (gradually) and why it happens (different stages of life/moving to different places/etc.). I rarely have the experience of reading something Ive experienced so it was really interesting, and kind of sad, for me.

This seemed to me to be more of an experiment to see if a male author can realistically depict female protagonists. He does, but the plot is seriously lacking. Not sure why I finished this one to be honest. It was kind of awful.

I didn't enjoy this book because basically nothing happened. It was like one long story about two people with no real plot. Maybe it's above me, but it just wasn't for me. If I hadn't been listening to it on audio, I probably wouldn't have finished it.

This book. I. do. not. know. about. this. book.

I read it quite quickly and it would seem to be exactly the kind of thing that I would like. Young smart women. A friendship. In the city. But it never quite felt "right." At some points it felt as if it were a book written in the 1980's or set in the 1980's and then was updated with 2016 details. At other times it felt so melancholy - the two friends really didn't seem to like each other all that much, their friendship didn't resonate as truthful to me. I had this odd sense of foreboding throughout the book, as if someone was going to die or sleep with someone's husband and ruin her life. Spoiler alert: nothing bad happens. But the entire book felt like it was leading up to some form of random tragedy or thoughtless act of betrayal. And yet, there were moments and descriptions that hung with me when I wasn't reading it.

I had trouble distinguishing the two women. Their voices were not different enough. And things happened, but those weren't the focus of the non-story. It's hard to explain. Mostly I just felt meh. I stopped reading this to read another book, which I never do, and then came back hoping it would be better.
