A strong follow-up book to OMENS, which focuses not on searching for the truth behind the serial murders protagonist Olivia's parents have been convicted of committing, but on the supernatural doings of the inhabitants of Cainsville, and their connections to Olivia. Interesting choice on Armstrong's part, to construct a slow developing friendship (and perhaps romance?) between Olivia and damaged shady lawyer Gabriel (who also has connections to Cainsville), but to give Olivia a hot sexual fling with another man because Gabriel is nowhere near ready to consider the possibility of engaging in anything more than a working relationship with Olivia. Lots of Celtic language/lore to be explored here, with rival supernatural factions developing. Which will Olivia ultimately choose? Or will she find a way to combine the two, and avoid repeating the tragic story of Matilda of the Night/Matilda of the Day? Definitely looking forward to book #3...

Read in 2016 March. And again in 2017 March. First for a friend, and then, to refresh for Book Club.

"I don't think I really understood how constrained my world was until I left it. I met others who intrigued me because they were so far from my norm. And then...compared with them, the light that had drawn me to James had faded into a barely noticeable glow. They were complex and fascinating and original and real. So vibrantly real."

Argh I love it when Kelley Armstrong writes these little mysteries! I absolutely adored the fist Cainsville and Visions isn't that far off either. The action was there, the mystery, the magic, it was all there. My one complaint is the huge focus on romance in this book. I wasn't a fan of the start of the triangle that is Ricky-Olivia-Gabriel. I'm not going to lie, but I'm a huge Oliviel shipper. I also adore how much is revealed about Cainsville and its dark little secrets that you wouldn't expect. I love it! So, go read it.

Much better than the first book in the series, perhaps because it reads like the second half of that book, where all the pieces start to come together and the real action begins. Eden/Olivia is beginning to see and understand the influence of the fae, and I have particularly enjoyed how Armstrong weaves Welsh legends and lore into the story. I found myself Googling almost every Welsh word, and then reading about some of the folklore. Being of Welsh ancestry myself makes it particularly interesting.

I would have given Visions four stars were it not for the occasional love scenes that were too graphic for my taste. It's easy to anticipate them from the dialogue, and skip over them, but it does distract from the flow of the story. I really wish talented and entertaining authors didn't feel it necessary to include such things in their books.

What the hell is going on with Olivia? She is blowing hot and cold at the poor Gabriel, gets upset at the slightest thing the guy does for her and causes him unintended hurts which she ignores. Yet, she is still leading him by the leash while banging her new pursuer... I'm bewildered!!!

Her actions made me angry and tremendously disappointed ..., if not for the plot, I would have stop reading.

Olivia claims to be a sensible & intelligent woman who can takes care of herself, who knows how to get in control and knows not to act impulsively. And YET, she jumps at the first chance to get laid ... her reason : she haven't got laid since last month. And then, we have numerous and UNNECESSARY pages of her sex lives with a guy she barely knows

Sum up, I can't stand Olivia in this 2nd installment ... the plot is going strong, the town and the mysteries remain intriguing, but Olivia and her love life's (a triangle or quadruple??) is just exhausting. it has to stop!

The second book picked up almost immediately from where the first ended. It definitely started to delve more into the mysterious nature of the residents of Cainsville. I still very much like Olivia, although I am curious what happens in this odd triangle of Olivia, Ricky, and Gabriel. It's so odd because Gabriel isn't even being jealous, but he is who I think is the most suitable for Olivia. Although maybe this is the slow burn and Ricky and Olivia is the quick rebound. Overall, I'm still intrigued by the books, and can't wait to learn all of the secrets Cainsville is hiding!

I am really liking this new series. I think I have an idea of what's going on, but it's going to take some time to really get all of the answers, and I am liking that. To me, it's more mystery with a side undercurrent of urban fantasy. I can't wait for the next one to come out.
