VERY cute graphic novel for the elementary set. I really liked the way the author took something uber-familiar (the school setting) and twisted it into something super-cool (superheroes fighting evil robots). This is true in the big picture realm (lunch lady, school setting), and at the small level (fish sticks, lunch trays, etc. all turn into crime-fighting gadgets). I also appreciated the stereotype breakdown that occurs. The girl's the one who's gonna fight all the baddies, the kid with big glasses is the best soccer player, the latino kid is into robotics... It's like he scrambled the expectations, which is very very cool.

Fun to read with Caleb, and I think it would be a hit with my 4th graders too. Short enough to read in one sitting.

It was a hit with the 4th graders. I enjoyed watching them laugh together as they huddled 3 in a row to read it. Ironically, it was the day after I spent 3 days substituting.

A two for one #audiobook this is a great early reader, with the action of SpyKids mixed with the fun od AmeliaBedeia, I fully suggest this series for the young ones (or tgose who want low-risk adventures).

When there's something suspicious about the new substitute teacher, it's up to Lunch Lady to solve the mystery and save the day.

From a student's perspective the life of the lunch lady looks normal and fairly boring. Making food for students everyday seems predictable. The students at this school are in for a surprise when they decide to follow their lunch lady one day to see what she really does. For this is no ordinary lunch lady, she's a lean, mean fighting machine, and she's going after the new substitute . . .

This is a quick fun read that fans of [b:The Adventures of Captain Underpants|207266|The Adventures of Captain Underpants (Captain Underpants, #1)|Dav Pilkey|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1172685944s/207266.jpg|3234368] and [b:Diary of a Wimpy Kid|389627|Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, #1)|Jeff Kinney|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1308961702s/389627.jpg|2617009] should enjoy.

I wasn't particularly impressed, but I get the appeal. A fun enough romp for boys who like weird lunchroom humor mixed with a James Bond-style adventure. Could stand to have some better writing to take things up a notch, but the reluctant readers that I feel this book is geared for might not care as much as I did.

One might be a little biased to the success of Jarrett J. Krosoczka's "Lunch Lady", due to that one grew up with "Captain Underpants". One cannot deny, however, that this series is witty, clever, and a great addition to a child's library (school, public, or personal).

What makes Lunch Lady fun are the cafeteria related puns that are heavily dashed throughout the pages. We have all wondered what secret lives our teachers have outside of the classroom or school, and Mr. Krosoczka's take is the one we all hope for (that and Dee's suggestion of having 100 cats)!

I am looking forward to completing the rest of the series, and watching the Lunch Lady serve more than just her famous French toast sticks and fish stick nunchucks. She will serve a large dollop of justice!
