This could've done with 100 pages less. I'm actually so sad that I didn't enjoy this, because I really really liked book 1. The pacing was awful, and with where this went, I just don't get why BK didn't write Defy the Night as a standalone. Literally nothing happend in the first half, and everything came crashing down in the last 60 pages. Will be picking up the final book, because fhe characters are very interesting and the world building was done very well. Just lower your expectations when you pick this up.
Nach dem tollen ersten Teil, war ich super gespannt auf die Fortsetzung. Das Cover gefällt mir wieder richtig gut und auch der Klappentext hat direkt meine Neugier geweckt. Durch den tollen Schreibstil von Brigid Kemmerer konnte ich wieder ohne Probleme in die Handlung eintauchen. Die Handlung ist gut ausgearbeitet, detailliert und spannend. Ich konnte das Buch nur sehr schwer aus der Hand legen. Es gab Wendungen die nicht sehr vorhersehbar waren, dass hat auch zur Spannung beigetragen. Eine Zeitlang wusste ich auch nicht, wem kann ich jetzt trauen und wem nicht. Es gab wieder viel Verrat, Intrigen und politisches Ränkeschmieden. Durch all dies hatte ich ein paar tolle Lesestunden.
Die Charaktere waren wieder gut ausgearbeitet und durch den Perspektivenwechsel konnte man sich gut in alle hineinversetzten und die jeweiligen Handlungen und Entscheidungen verstehen. Corrick und Tessa sind so interessant und sie machen hier in Band zwei wieder eine tolle Entwicklung durch. Aber auch die anderen Charaktere sind bemerkenswert, komplex und alle ergänzen sich richtig gut.
„Hüte den Morgen“ ist eine schöne und gelungen Fortsetzung, die ich jedem Fantasy Fan empfehlen kann. Ich bin jetzt sehr gespannt auf den dritten Teil der Reihe. Von mir gibt es eine klare Leseempfehlung.

4.25 ⭐️ | these books are so good! I truly wasn’t sure where the author was going to take this book after the first one seemed to resolve. But things have taken an interesting turn & that end!! The next book is needed lol
Half a book, didn't really go anywhere, annoying love triangle, the supposed bad guy was actually the best character, not only in terms of coolness but also just quality of person in general.
This is another five star read for me. I was so happy to see the new characters introduced. I was so caught up in the intentions of Captain Blakemore, the mysterious ships approaching and that locked door! There was so much intrigue in this book that it was hard to only read the assigned section each day.
I loved that we hear more about King Harristan and we get to see his softer side. I think he may be my new favorite character.
This book has so much action and it ends on a fabulous cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read Destroy the Day in January!

I told you all you can't trust anyone in this world! Everyone is lying about everything! These are actually some really fun spoilers - sure we knew most of the people from Ostriary had to be lying about something, but I had fun with how it was all revealed. Chaos, that's how. It was just fun. And just how out of control everything become back in Kandala! I really like that Quint turned out to be as good as we assumed he was - he seemed to be the one person who wasn't lying or distrusting or anything. And he was so perfect for Harristan! Poor guy - I felt bad for him the whole time. Talk about being out of your depth. But he came into his own and it was really fun to watch. What I really liked about this book was that it kind of didn't matter if the story line was predictable or not, it was told in a fun way that made me want to read how it all went down. It was ridiculous and fun and just kept getting more and more interesting. Thank goodness I don't have to wait for the next one from the library!
