The Amityville Horror

I did read this book as a non-fiction, I don't believe in the paranormal so I went into this believing it was a fictional story.

The book itself is written in a boring monotone sort of way. The author basically would speak like this:
"then this happened and this happened, and he went here while she did this and then this happened"
It was dull. I think it might have been written like this to make it more "legitimate" more like non-fiction, but it just caused me to lose interest.

I think the parents are awful people who harmed their children and I think the story wasn't very imaginative (maybe for the time it was but it doesn't age well if that was the case).
dark mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

It's not that long.
And even if you know that the book is a lie (kinda well told too), I always get the suspicion of "it was really ALL a lie?"
Some parts of the book looks a lot real and possible.
But overall, a one-time-reading book.

DNF!!
medium-paced

Read this when I was 12 and had nightmares for years (literally).

4,5/5 ⭐

Despite the writing style, still one of the scariest horror books I've ever read.

audiobooked it.
