Not scary...definitely gets you mixed up with the change in perspectives so much...it's more like an article on events rather than a book/story/novel. I'd prefer more vivid description and emotion rather than just cataloging the happenings.

This was a good one! It was written almost like a documentary which gave it some uniqueness among most horror books. The supposed true story behind it adds to the creepiness. The pacing was a little too quick and it jumped around, mostly because of the style of writing, but definitely a horror staple. Totally recommend.

I liked this. I wasn’t too keen on the narrator to be honest... it was a bit monotone and would have worked better for me if I’d have read the physical book (this was an audible listen) I
Knew the story from watching the films but it did have some truly creepy moments.

A true horror story of a haunted house

Enjoyable classic. I really want to know more. Will have to do some googling and watch the movie :)

If it was supposed to be scary, it definitely missed the mark. If anything, I was frustrated that George didn’t get his family out sooner. It really had to come down to the children sustaining several injuries and terrors and a priest saying he won’t step another foot in your house for you to leave. That was just lame and bad parenting. Not only that but both George and Kathy experiencing awful things and then just… not telling each other about it???? Anyway, there was a ton of rising action and then the climax was just….
