Men will write a book about how they were possessed by demons instead of admitting that they have a temper and poor money management skills
This was very interesting and I enjoyed it - that being said, it is literally the movie in book form so if you’d rather watch that, do it. I just enjoy horror movie books like this so I enjoyed it a lot.
I was like what, 12, when I read this. I don't remember much - I was freaked out by the pig, that I do remember!
My rating has nothing to do with weather this story is actually true or not, the Blare Witch Project is still a fun and scary movie even though everyone know it's fake. My rating is so low because while this story had a lot of potential to be a great and scary read, it just fell flat due to the horrible writing. At times it was almost painful to read it was so bad, (almost as bad or worse than BWP's damnable, puke inducing shaky cam) but I really wanted to know how it all turned out, so I forced myself to finish.
So anyways, yeah, lots of potential, who cares if it's fake or real, but crappy writing ruined it, it could have been so much better in more capable hands. Ah well.

I am probably the only person in my age range who has not seen the movie. However, being a little obsessed with serial killers and such, I did know about the murders of DeFeo family and honestly thought that this book will be about that. I did not know about so-called supernatural happenings in the house afterwards. So, there was an almost instant disappointment once I started reading it. Nevertheless, I was intrigued and kept on. It was a very fast read, but it wasn't even remotely scary or suspenseful. There was absolutely no emotional connection within the story. The way it was written felt as if someone was transcribing a movie or something like that: George did that, Kathy saw this, the car made noise, etc.
Overall, pretty interesting, absolutely horrifying at times. Audible.
My rating revolves around the writing and how the story was told rather than what the story is actually about. I don’t know if it’s true or not but the people involved believed it to be, so that’s good enough for me.
Anyways, the writing. It wasn’t the worst written book I’ve ever read but definitely could have been better.

Não sei se estes dias vividos pela família Lutz foram reais ou ficção, mas gostei de ouvir o audiobook, foi como ouvir uma spooky story entre amigos, o narrador Ray Porter fez um belíssimo trabalho.
I'm torn. It was an easy read but very infuriatingly white-people-in-a-spoopy-house-esque. The writer likes to use exclamation points after sentences which are intended to be perceived as scary, which made me giggle each time.
