A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin
5.0
This remains, till Winds of Winter proves otherwise, my favorite of the ASOIAF series. Perhaps it is because the narrative action, or the perspectives we are allowed to view--but it remains the strongest work of GRRM, and moves much quicker than his other works.
An Object of Beauty by Steve Martin
5.0
Possibly one of my favorite works of all time, Martin does a masterful job of immersing us into a little written about world: the dramatic world of art galleries. Without spoiling major plot points, it is easily one of the most delicately suspenseful novels out there. His openness in dealing with the sexuality of grown women is also refreshing--he neither shames nor glorifies the acts, but simply creates them as moments of art for interpretation.
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
4.0
This might be a rare case where the film does more justice for the novel, than the novel does for itself. That being said, it's still a darkly entertaining and sparse read about masculinity, violence, and fighting for control. The narrative style is classic Palahnuik, and makes for a quick read.
