The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
5.0
Shirley Jackson should be considered required canon reading, as her gift for slow burn horror is second to none. Hill House is delightfully creepy, and through the eyes of Eleanor, you imagine yourself trapped in the endless loop of deciphering what is real and what is not.
Hangsaman by Shirley Jackson

I am still not quite sure what to think of this novel, and I certainly, without the help of a literature class discussion, would not stand to make claims about the meaning of the end. But it is classic Jackson, who builds upon the concepts of questioning your reality, your sanity, and your existence.
