I enjoyed this book as it was a fresh premise and well written multi-POV but I felt like it could’ve had more depth.

It follows two brothers across two timelines, pre and post death and delves into grief and the pressure boys have to not express their emotions but as the themes were powerful, I think it could’ve had more depth and been explored better.

I really enjoyed this book! This is a multigenerational book, really delving into China’s history.

This book is incredibly well-written. The characters are well-developed and I became incredibly invested in  the families story.

This book is very informative about China’s history and the challenges that come with warfare, but it is delicately addressed through this families journey.

I love Meilin! She will stay with me for a while.

This book follows the story of a young gay guy coming to terms with his homosexuality in post WWII Poland, including a love story.

This was an easy read and definitely a well written character driven book as I felt empathetic towards the main character. I really enjoyed learning more about life in Poland post WWII. However, I thought it could have had a bit more of a plot.

This is my second Kristin Hannah book and it was excellent. It is a character driven book following a family of three moving to Alaska in the 70s, following the Vietnam War.

Covers themes of domestic abuse, love, loyalty, community etc. She has a beautiful writing style that really allows you to picture and feel what she is writing.

The reason it’s not a 5⭐️ is that it starts slowwww. I almost DNF’d but without realising I had become attached to the main character and invested in her future. (Testament to her writing style!) The middle and end really picks up pace and the writing follows suit. It’s riveting as I just wanted to know what happened next!

Wow this book is heavy! Set in the South of America in the 1950s, this is a character driven books that really has you empathising. (Trigger warning) it covers themes of abuse, race, prostitution.

It’s based around the unlikely friendship of two women but delves into their backstories and the hardships they’ve been through.
