This is the kind of book that wins Pulitzers. It is deeply researched and has great storytelling. It gives people who are normally ignored as individuals by media the full presidential treatment. It tells the story of humans, places, and policies. It is really good, but in all the detail it goes on too long.

I liked this one a lot. Kiley Reid is giving a character study with all the details you could ever need. This is social commentary and a good ass time.

I liked a lot of this book but also had a lot of questions about who was telling this story. I wasn't particularly interested in Korean beauty standards but I think Hu helped me to really engage with the topic. I struggled more with her being an outsider to this place and doing a cultural study. Overall it is interesting.

I am so impressed by Ruha Benjamin she seamlessly mixes memoir with data with research with solutions in a way that is accessible. I really appreciate the ways she sites other thinkers in these spaces. This book is more information than an actionable tool (in my opinion) and at times the hopeful take can be a little frustrating, but I understand it even if I wish it was touch more pragmatic.

I love Markham’s writing style. She’s playing a lot with form, voice, authority, and structure which works and doesn’t throughout the book. It’s very ambitious which I love but also lacks a bit of flow and/or clarity. What she has to say about immigration is thoughtful and carrying and comes from a place that invigorates the work.
Overall solid.

This book is well done and very brief, it is a lot of information I already knew about the history of the 2nd amendment so I found myself zoning out a bit (I listened on audio and the reader was bit underwhelming). I liked that the author had a point of view and was brash enough to share his thoughts and cited his opinions with historical texts. Its a good book but didn't fully hold my attention.

I like the way Tia Williams writes and tells stories. I like that there is some mystery to what she is doing. She is clever without doing too much. I liked the leads (especially Ezra) but I did want more sex and for the book to be shorter. It went on too long and took a while to get going. Overall good and fun with a little history mixed in.

I was really impressed with this book. It turn history into a thriller. I wish the author had been more critical of the FBI and also led with the Osage perspectives and experiences but overall liked it a lot. It’s formally/narratively so strong. Storytelling fantastic. Wild ride. All of that!

I liked this book a lot and think it started out really strong, however the middle lost its way a bit, and pulled together again by the end. I think it could've been shorter and I wished he would have spent a little more time on non-white evangelics in leadership along with women.

I appreciated much of the research and story structure in the book but felt it went on too long. It is impressive, but a bit bloated.
