I must have missed something. I don't give 1 star lightly, but this book was terrible. Imagine everything that everyone hated about the star wars prequels - taking, planning, politics, etc - that is all this book is. I really wanted to like this, but I wouldn't have even finished if I hadn't been listening to the audiobook.

Part of me wants to keep reading the trilogy to see if it gets any better as so many peeler live this book and trilogy, the other part thinks getting a cavity filled sounds like more fun.

:(

I didn't think this was anywhere near as good as the others. Most of it its just planning with a long battle at the end. Rough language throughout

Very good the second time through.

In her typical style, Mary Roach is very informative on a subject not many people really think about it know exists. While being a very good communicator of information and ideas, she is very witty as well.

The first time I read this I didn't find it very disgusting, but this time I was repulsed at some parts, so I must be more squeamish than I was 5 years ago

2.52 stars (divisible by 3)

This book helps demystify the mysterious Nikola Tesla. We see his inventing process and get looks into his life.

While this book contains a lot of information, it doesn't do a good job of conveying why Tesla's inventions were so revolutionary and necessary for our current quality of life. It seems to deal mostly with finances and personal life rather than inventions and how important they truly were.

I guess my final thought is while seemingly correct factually (I'm not a Tesla scholar, so I can't speak for authenticity, but it seems right), it muses the bigger scope of what Tesla has contributed to our world

I didn't find the plot interesting at all (maybe you will if you like lawyer books).

There is way more fiction than fact - I understand this is historical fiction, but so much had been twisted and/or completely fabricated. Some surface facts are correct, but don't think you're getting anything choose to what actually happened

Note: on a kindle this book ends at 65% the rest is notes.

I would have given this book 3 stars, but I deducted one star for being about a serial killer. While it doesn't glorify her, it does give her game and notoriety.

It is an interesting book and I think the author does well in discussing all angles and mostly remaining subjective. It is needlessly long and could have been about half the length and still had the same impact.

The author was probably trying to be thorough, but at times it felt like Mr. Schecter was being paid per page written

First: I am a male, thus not the target audience

I was impressed with the author's honesty in many parts of the book. She tells some very difficult stories.

While I didn't find myself any more motivated than when I started this book, I most appreciated the looks into the female mind - especially in teenage years, that will be valuable for me in my days as a father.

There were some very good chapters dealing with tough and important issues, although much of it seemed like humble brag to me. This could be because I dont know the author at all outside of this book, but at times it felt like I was reading a really long Facebook post.

There are many good thoughts and pieces of advice that could be useful for people in many different life circumstances

This was the best history of the Church that they have put out. It helped me understand much better the conditions of the early Church.

I would have given it 5 stars, but it felt very rushed at the end not really explaining well why they left Nauvoo and why Emma Smith stayed behind, and there were a few other parts that could have used more detail, but it was an excellent book.

Very easy to read non fiction

This was an excellent look at the future possibilities with AI, some great, some not so much. Although a lot of the book doesn't deal with AI directly (space exploration, consciousness, etc), it is still very interesting.

This could all become VERY relevant in the coming years
