You need to read this just to experience the audacity of the world building.  The scope was insane.
While the character work did leave something left to be desired, I still enjoyed reading about these characters and I’m very interested in seeing how they turn out in book 2.

Fast paced, action packed and genuinely very funny and quotable.

I really wanted to love this book and maybe if was able to read it over a shorter period of time and minded the corny banter a little less, I probably would have.
I think it’s important to know that this won’t read like a typical romance novel, it has a strong focus on grief and learning how to live with it. And to be honest I wish it focused a little more on the couple because I wanted more of them. They felt right for each other but overall did not have enough page time for me personally.
I still highly recommend this because it was still an enjoyable read.

Is there a lot of plot amour? Yes. But am I that mad about it? No, because all of my favourites are still alive

I know that the big bad isn’t going to be taken out by the general because then we we wouldn’t have the rest of the story😂 but I mean the way they are depicting Ichigo as this one and only saviour feel like the author is taking away everything that was built with the other characters powers and abilities. But I mean we’ll see how we go.

The stakes feel a lot higher in this arc already compared to the others.

Um. This arc was fine. There was some good stuff within and overall it was enjoyable but the characters introduced don’t have any impact on the main story.  They felt like filler which is quite sad because more character development could have been achieved with these characters. They definitely had the potential.  The idea of the former deputy soul reaper was actually quite an interesting concept.
Overall this arc was both too long and too short for what it was trying to achieve.
