I find myself uncertain how to feel about this book: somehow it is not grotesque enough, while also relishing it the lashings of blood and other viscera it produces far too much.

takes a profound and perturbing turn for the racist and antisemitic about two thirds of the way in.

a very mixed Christmas stocking of a book: you got some chocolates, some cool presents and the occasional bruised orange, but overall I had a fun time, and recognise its very difficult to write something with the super engage mystery-adjacent format of a doctor who story in like. less than a novella amount of pages. 1, 3, 7, 8, 9 and 12's stuck out to me the most :]

so good in so many different ways: great concept! (sirens but they're big evil eels who are also incubating humans hell yeah) consequences in Rose's life and impact on those close to her! (tho not comfortable with how willfully dw authors mistreat Mickey :/) doctor rose angst !! and also dancing around feelings !!!

D'you think I don't want to go jumping into the Thames after Rose? You think I don't want to... [...] I do want to, and I didn't even see her clearly.

is tattooed into my brain matter they are deeply unwell about each other (delighted)

my only issues are the doctor felt a bit TOO quippy sometimes and that it felt like the complexity of the villain's plan spiralled out until it was like ?!?!?!?!? what is going on...
