i never write reviews for books, but this one deserves it. i can't adequately explain what i felt when reading it. i cried several times, giggled, felt iris's pain and struggles. the writing was beyond amazing. it flowed so perfectly and was insanely descriptive. at some points i just forgot i was reading. the writing completely transported me and i found myself able to vividly see the scenes as they were written on the page, which is rare for me when reading. i loved all of the characters, the relationship between iris and roman, the friendship and found family aspects with iris, attie, and marisol. i'm usually not a fan of historical fiction but that wasn't a problem with this book. there's just so many things that it did perfectly and i find myself thinking of several exceptions this book fits into. i will recommend this for as long as i remember it and i can't wait to start the second book. i desperately need to continue this story.
