This was a sweet, tongue-in-check homage to all romance tropes. It was predictable, sure, but still managed to be enjoyable. Thank God she didn't leave us hanging longer than she did to give us the reveal we all knew was coming.

While I loved the story, I'm wondering if the audio book didn't ruin it a bit for me. Sometimes all the different inflections, accents, or voices that the narrator used either were garbled for me (probably due to hearing difficulties on my end and not the narrator) or they seemed a bit out of place. I loved Janie's story but I was amazed at how her 20 year marriage to Jody was seemingly glossed over. Not that I wanted or needed a play-by-play but it seems like she was married to him for a blink of an eye and we didn't get a good grasp of her suffering in the marriage.

I read this book mostly to see what the hype was about.  It is extremely graphic with its sexual content. More so than I'm used to. The kink really wasn't for me so that detracted a bit from my enjoyment. Overall I think the premise of the story was a bit weak to support the plot but it wasn't bad. No kink shaming but it just wasn't for me.

This was a pretty bland and predictable story. I don't hold that against it because that's the nature of romance books. They are made for smut and happy endings. It was an enjoyable distraction in audiobook form.

Having read Hazelwood's other books, including her 3 novellas, it was not hard to see where this was going. She definitely writes a type (very big, but ultimately decent/emotionally squishy, men) and leans on the enemy to friends trope. It is predictable yet her writing makes it less bothersome for me. I love her focus on wen in STEAM and the way she makes her sex scenes consensual. Overall decent book, I did prefer Lkve Hypothesis slightly more, but still a decent read.

This was a great story about female friendship and perseverance in the face of war.  I enjoy stories based in WWI rather than WWII, personally,  and this story by Willig is no exception. I appreciate how finding husbands or a love interest in general isn't a big part of the plot.
Emmie does find love interes  but that doesn't detract from the mission.

As a conclusion to her trio of novellas Hazelwood keeps this one as fun and sexy as the last two. Hannah's brilliance blinds her to how much Ian cares for her and, predictably, Mara and Sadie have to step in and show her.

I really enjoyed the sex positive message this book had; it isn't something to shy away from or be ashamed of. I also enjoyed the bohemian lifestyle of Cade's parents, almost wishing they were more present in the book. I can see why they weren't, though, given Selena basically filled their free-spirited role while they weren't present. As a personal critique I've never enjoyed when characters do the "I really like them but they could never like me" trope. It's just not one that I enjoy so that seemed to pull me out of the story a bit but overall I loved the relationship Selena and Cade built together and how it worked out in the end.
I especially loved that Cade did not exert her influence in the art world during Selena's auction. That Selena got the validation for her artwork that she deserved from the money raised was awesome.

This was such a fun read! I loved that it wasn't too trope heavy pr overly dramatic with the other-wordly element to it.  There were some parts that were a little bit of a stretch but it was in a good way.

In this book we continue on with Ahmad and Chava's story as they continue to navigate the human world while hiding their true identities. As would be expected, humanity invades their little bubble and threatens to tear them apart and change their relationship forever.  The continuation of Sophia's story was a welcome addition and the other character arcs added depth and fleshed out Ahmad and Chava a little bit more.  It seemed a bit errant at times, not quite figuring out where it was headed, but then it all became clear the further along in the book you got.  Like the first book I appreciated her inspection of humanity and what it means to not just survive, but live.
