3.75 stars. Tom's character wants to be more interesting than he seems but comes off more paranoid and two-dimensional to me. Super interesting concept - rather than being immortal he's just aging extremely slow.
An interesting look at how medieval justice played out in France. Even at the time of the duel it was consider a last resort and was not generally seen as a way to settle legal arguments. Given what little primary sources remain it seems that there is a lot left to speculation, and the author even addresses the rumors that have circulated since the duel concluded. But it was an interesting look at how this affected not only the combatants but the people closely surrounding them.
