3.5 stars. I enjoyed it but it is exactly like what Redditors have said - great plot twists and so fun to discover the secrets of the world (I'm excited about the time travel) but characterization is so poor... I was not invested in any of the characters except Caedan and occasionally (very occasionally) Davian. So I was both very eager to learn about the story but also wishing the characters would get to the point. At least the story is mostly fast paced and not glacier slow like Sanderson.

Strong opening but 1) introducing characters then killing them off immediately, why, 2) once the MMC walks on screen this becomes your standard romantasy with a badass FMC and a hulking bear MMC

4.5 stars. Kory Stamper writes about her job as a lexicographer with lots of humor. You can tell this was written by someone who loves the English language.

Painful. That's the only way to describe how it felt getting through this book. Slogged my way through because people swear up and down that this series is SO good from book 2. Howling Dark better be better.

3.5 stars. Some of the essays are better than others and this collection touches on activism in Singapore - the history, the challenges, etc. I found some of it eye opening but some it repetitive for those who are familiar with the topic. This is however a good introduction to the topic of civil resistance in Singapore.

Dropping it. The series does not get better. Nothing happens and the writing feels YA.

3.5 stars ⭐

Rebirth novel. It's ok, entertaining and tropey/predictable. Dropped it near chapter 100.

DNF. There's no plot, it's just set up. And only two of the pov characters are interesting.
