Never read this author before but so far its a fun read - exactly what I need right now!!
I'll admit that it took a couple of chapters for me to get used to the Spinelli speak - and not just the regular Spinelli speak, but the Spinelli speak of his black and white PI fantasies. Once I got past that, I couldn't put it down and actually laughed out loud a few times!! It was great to read the characters I have grown up with and love shown in such a different light - all dependent on The Jackal to be the hero!!!
It was okay. It felt like a lot was missing, a lot of background, a lot of depth within the main character. The story itself, the plot, the idea was pretty intriguing - but the whole thing left a lot to be desired.
Have been flip flopping about whether or not I was going to read it. I'm going to give it a try. I couldn't do it. 5 chapters in and I was getting tired of waiting for it to get better.
One of my students lent me the trilogy and I'm looking forward to getting into them. I'll be back with my opinions when I'm done.
I hope I am not expecting too much after reading The Book Thief which was an amazing book!! We shall see.
Not too bad overall. It definitely held my attention - which is always a plus! It wasn't up to the same depth and quality as The Book Thief . . . but it was a good story nonetheless.

I really enjoyed this! My mother has read these books for years and I never got into them until now. Looking forward to reading the rest!!
