I like how we were given a little more depth on the abilities of Whit and Whisteria. The pacing was fast but not overly so, so I didn't feel like I was missing much. I would still like a little more depth to these characters and what is happening to them.
I was very surprised to see that James Rollins had delved into the young adult genre. I throughly enjoyed the story and the character of Jake Ransom. I look forward to more in this series.
Although I thought the premise was good and definitely kept me going, I felt this was about 30 or so chapters too long. The only reason I kept reading was because the antagonist was so purely evil I was intrigued as to what was going to happen to him and what he was going to do next. I didn't connect to the other characters as much as I would have liked.
