I liked the concept of the book and how it was written. Evelyn Hugo was this strong woman that stood up for herself. Even though i disagree with some of the things she did, i understood her, because it was written so beautifully and painfully true. I loved how the book focused on how it was to be a woman (and queer) in the 1950's. It's sad, but it is the truth. The book didnt sugarcoat anything

I didn`t quite understand it. Like I didn`t understand why the things that happened, did happen if that makes sense. Why does she have a rose attached to her wrist?
The author was really good at describing sam as transgender. I could relate to him.
But yeah, the book didn`t give me what I thought it would and what I wanted.

I loved the writing style. Yeah, it was a "long" book, but everything that was written was necessary if that makes sense.
It was kind of a plot twist, and i did not see it coming at all.

Its a loveable book. I like the setup and how its written.
The only thing i would criticize is that sometimes it's difficult to understand what's happening in the book and you kind of get lost. It's a great book if you're not too busy trying to understand every detail.
Some scenes could be a little bit cliché, but while reading it i fell quite in love with it

It was a beautifully written book. Loved the style. The only reason I gave it so few stars is because of a scene that I find quite problematic.

This girl (I think she`s called Miranda) and Sami tell each other their biggest secret. Sami`s secret is that he called another`s name during sex. Her secret is straight up about her sexually assaulting her own brother
.

The scene I find problematic is about sexual assault, which is never discussed later in the book. Just how this was talked about and handled, wasn't needed in the book at all. The writer could have written about something else instead. This is the reason why I give the book only 2.5 stars.
I also didn't find it necessary to have such a big age gap between the different relationships. the characters in the book even say to their partner that they could have been their child, which I didn't quite like.

I would recommend the book, but only if you understand what's problematic about the book.
