So there’s a deeper meaning as to why I refuse to turn my ceiling light on and only use yellow-lit lamps. Excited to make observations in Japan about the style of the rooms that he’s describing. Also definitely a product of its time - do not read if you’re a proud westerner who gets offended easily

Did not finish book. Stopped at 55%.
There soooooo many similes and metaphors that it becomes a disjointed philosophy book with sprinkles of a narrative that doesn’t draw you in at all. It’s not well written and it’s unfortunate because I think it has potential
