I wish we had seen more of Logan’s redeeming qualities- but as is he’s an ass.

This is an older review copy that I have and have been meaning to work my way through. And on the surface the story was interesting. But I made it 30% into it, and realized that this book is more about the characters and less about the actual case that they are working on. Don't get me wrong - the focus was on the case. But if you weren't invested in the characters the case didn't really matter as much. And when I originally requested this, I didn't realize that it was the third book in the series. Since I didn't read the beginning of the series, there is a lot that I am missing some crucial information and the opportunity to get to know the characters and the situation that they are in, perhaps in the way that the author intended. The writing was fine and actually helped me to make as far as I did, but being thrown in the middle of something as complicated and morally grey as this pulls me out of the story.

fast-paced
This is a slowly evolving story, with threats coming in from multiple sides. As well as allies. You learn a little more about Jade and this world the more you read. I can’t wait to see what happens next
