I loved the layers of relationships in this one. I think Ashaya is one of the more interesting Psy characters, and a lot of that comes down to her relationships with her sister and Keenan. Dorian has been intriguing since he was first introduced as a Changling who couldn’t shift and it was great to see him get his story.

Ugh why did both of these characters have jobs that are completely against my morals? I’m trash for all the tropes here but military and Wall Street really brought this down.

A fluffy warring families romance, although pretty light on the enemies to lovers. Sylvie and Lauren get together pretty fast and then there’s just a few scenes where they try to convince their families to get along. The root of the families’ conflict is they each accuse the other of stealing recipes used in their bakeries, but it’s revealed early on that they actually stole the recipes from another baker in Cuba, and there’s never any acknowledgement that maybe they should do something to compensate those people, which seems pretty shitty. Also, bit nitpicky, but I was very confused by how wealthy these families are. They each own bakeries, which do have multiple locations across Miami, but these people are loaded to an extent that seems way beyond pastry money. Like at one point multiple Fabergé eggs are mentioned??? And finally, at the end there’s a bit of cop love at the expense of the fire department which I was not impressed by.

Love a best friend’s brother. Brendon and Annie were really cute together and as a former Washingtonian I enjoyed all the Seattle love.

Childhood friends who clearly would have become more but something pulled them apart and now they’ve reunited as adults is one of my favourite tropes. Mine to Possess does it well; I loved Clay and Talin together. The plot is getting plottier and I like that we now have humans in the mix.

A fascinating look at a problem that has only gotten worse in the 30 years since the book was published. Has made me realise I need to add more science books to my tbr.

The way Austin writes about mental health is so relatable. You feel like you’re in Enid’s head and really going through it with her, but there’s also so many moments of humour throughout.

This book kicked the series up to another notch. Judd is all reserved but secretly soft and Brenna is so strong. These two have been through so much and the way Singh works it so they can come together is brilliant.
