I love books that combine history with fantasy/mystery. It was simply amazing how Kostova combined the real tale of Dracula with the vampire legends. However, some parts were a little tiring, but an excellent read nonetheless.
It's strange because I got a weird feeling when I read this book, like I jumped into a portal to another world and I was living in the story. Not too many books can do that, but this one did. Something about the writing entranced me and sucked me into the pages. The darkness, mystery and overall thrill of the book really had me reading.

I'm not sure I entirely believe in Sylvia Browne's experiences, but for some reason I'm hooked to her books. They are really expensive as far as books go, but I still can't help myself.
When I read Sylvia's books, I feel as if I'm listening to a long lost friend or something. Her writing (and that of Lindsay Harrison, her cowriter) is very down to earth and humbling. I feel very satisfied after I read one of her books. It would be a shame to learn that she made everything up.
I didn't give Psychic five stars because it contained a lot of information from other books. This is how many of her books are, and it seems like an easy way to make more money by adding information from previous books. However, there was some new information that I didn't know about Sylvia, so it was still informative.
Another set back was the book's tendency to skip from year to year, rather than give a chronological time line of Sylvia's life. I also felt that there was too much other information about the paranormal, rather than about Sylvia's actual life. She would go into detail about 'mystical travelers,' let's say, and she would omit many details about her experiences on television. It was more of a psychic encyclopedia than a memoir.
Despite all of the set backs, I'm still giving the book 4 stars because I really enjoyed it. It was very easy to follow and like I said, the writing style makes me feel very pleased during and after reading.

Very short, but with the same great storytelling of Philip Pullman.

Although slow at first and in the middle somewhat, I'm still giving this book 5 stars. It was utterly amazing. A tragic story, possibly even more tragic than Grapes of Wrath. Death, death, and more death in this book. The retelling of the book of Genesis was done flawlessly, but because it was a retelling, it was rather easy to predict what was going to happen. Still, a book everyone must read.

I read this a few years ago and I don't really remember the whole story. It was an assigned book for a reading competition. I just remember that I like the book.

I read this a LONG time ago, back in elementary school. It's about a girl who has a skin disorder and can't go out during the day time or she'll get severely burned. So she can only go out at night, but still has to wear protective clothing.

I decided to stick with this book, even though it was very much like Psychic, which I just read. Although it contained a lot of the same information about the medium Sylvia Browne, it was much more detailed.
At first I didn't like the fact that the book was written in 3rd person, rather than 1st, which is how Sylvia's books are usually written. I got over that fast and flew through the book.

I think I mostly read this book to get on my mom's nerves because she isn't too fond of Paula Deen. However, I did rather enjoy this book, at least, I read it all. I learned perhaps more than I wanted to learn about Paula Deen, but I did learn about Deen's life, which I knew hardly anything about.

This book is really childish, but I read it in 4th grade. I really liked it back then. It was very different, with the main character's butt coming lose and trying to take over the world.
