Taming the Beast by Emily Maguire

Taming the Beast is a very well-written, intriguing coming of age novel. I could not put it down. The characters are engrossing and the story is very solid despite the unusual subject matter. Some parts, because of their violent nature, are a bit difficult to read. My only complaint is that it seems to end rather abruptly. I can't wait to read more of Maguire's work.

The Great Gatsby is amazingly well-written. The execution of the story is perfect. Although I was quite impressed by the the way Fitzgerald crafted the language and plot so carefully, I wasn't deeply affected by its characters as they mostly are very shallow or weak. It is a great piece of literature although.

P.S. I Love You was a compelling story, but only mediocre writing which made it hard for me to muddle through. For those who have seen the movie, the book is totally different, but charming in its own right.
