A brilliant start to a dramatic series. It is full of detail that makes it hard to put the book down. You feel as if you are there with Bella and Edward, its wrote so clearly. All of your emotions are played with as the unusual couple go through this long and exciting journey to find a way to make everything OK. So that nothing is odd or dangerous just safe and happy.

But the couple face many dangers! This adds lots of tension and makes it dramatic. Its bitter-sweet. You go from love and happiness and joy to desperateness and sorrow.

I'm not too keen on hard core romance but I found the twist in this make it more relate-able and interesting.

Overall is amazing!

Before I read this book I didn't know too much about demons. The second chapter was the first time I experienced
Spoiler such gore, death and sorrow. But I felt because we didn't no them it was a lot better and we could only sympathise not fell too much pain. Clever Darren Shan!.
From there I found it slow and difficult to get stuck into until he went to the house. The rest of the book I was either on the end of my seat or sat back smiling.

The twist towards the end was genius and I thoroughly loved it, as well as the ending!

I think this was a great way to start not only the book or the saga but a long journey. Some might think its a little freaky or creepy, but I didn't. 'A plot full of twists that leaves the reader hungry for more' (A quote from J.K.Rowling). I could not agree more!

An amazing plot , actions that make Darren, well Darren. This actions also give dilemmas and personal problems. An exciting and unexpected ending. The beginning didn't really catch my attention.
Overall thumbs up!

This book was AMAZING! I really liked it, however I'm not sure if I could say it was my favourite of the series. It was fast paced, exciting, dramatic and full of mystery and suspense like the others in the series. The way a thriller should be!

I loved the twist about Marianne shown earlier in the series and think it was great that Becker continued his! The blood succession is shown and it ends with a slight twist that has a big effect on Jonathan!

A good read!
