Man that was intense. Between the racism and the military industrialization complex, this was NOT a story I want to live in forever (like Molly Ostertag’s quote proclaims on the cover)
A very well done story but not a comfy cozy fantasy adventure if that’s what you’re looking for.

A quick read. Cute enough I suppose. Spent more time on storylines that weren’t endgame than the ones that were.
3.75⭐️ Such an incredibly brutal story. Mostly because of the real women and girls who have joined the lost nation.
Anna’s story itself was empowering- she found the chapter that included her. But wow was this book a tough read.
I had expected something supernatural- similar to Stephen Graham Jones but this was nothing like that.

This book HURT MY FEELINGS. MY FEELINGS ARE HURT.
:(
Very well written, impressively ended considering the MASSIVE world building at play here.
While I know that trilogies exist because they continue to build tension from one book to the next, my heart can’t take it.
“We thought we fought for the fate of the world then, but we were just children playing games in alleys and ditches” and I MISS IT BRO. read this whole series in a couple weeks and it has me feeling weepy and nostalgic about the stakes of the first book. Like goddamn I’m impressed with how it went but also quite sad.
