There was so much in this book that was interesting and important. And, disappointing but not surprising, I’ve made it through K-12 and a college education without learning most of these struggles and stories.
On the other hand, I listened to this on audiobook. So I couldn’t skim past sections detailing violence and sexual violence against women throughout history. It made me uncomfortable and, while I can understand the importance of facing uncomfortable history, I wished there had been more stories of women carving their own path and not facing death or torture for it.
Lastly, I have never heard the words vulva and penis said out loud to me quite so much and I doubt I ever will again.

There were lines I liked. And the book was technically very well written. I just… it was so messy. And grief is messy I know but I just couldn’t center on the point of it.
This is the first piece of literature that made me go “oh so THATS the difference between millennials and gen z” cause I feel like so much of this went over my head.
My favorite chapters were “Step on me, Julianne Moore” and “Lesbian Canon”.
But I did feel like I couldn’t fully appreciate these essays cause I’m at least 10 years removed from most of the pop culture.

Cute and summery. Could definitely be the plot of a third Mama Mia movie.
Reading a lot about grief recently.

Very well-written (well, it was an audiobook so well spoken?) and I don’t know dolly alderton but I was proud of her growth throughout the book.
By the end, I understood her a lot better and related better to her experiences. Otherwise, I think we’re having very different experiences in our 20s
