If you want a sweet and romantic read try this book. It has all the trappings of a modern day love story with a accents of Bollywood realness thrown in to spice it up.
Sonali Dev really does make it so that her characters are well rounded and don't fall into the usual traps of romance novels where the smart women falls for buff, alpha male and forgets herself while simultaneously losing her IQ. Dev's main male lead, Samir, is every bit as masculine as your usual alpha male, but he also has a sensitive side. When paired with Mili, the female lead, this character is only made better. Thankfully, the two are able to balance each other out without the reader feeling like she's reading a generic love story.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who loves romance novels or who has been reading big books and/or books that cover hard topics lately. This book is a feel good pick-me-up that will help ease you into your next read.

I wasn't necessarily blown away by this book however, it was a comfort read since I was not only sick, but in a slump while reading it.
The main character in the book is out for literary blood when she goes after Jane Austen's legacy. Intriguing as this sounds, the book never really switched gears in terms of action and instead of being a cutesy love-dovey romance book or even a sassy mystery book, Patillo just let the modern day characters move freely around her fictional account of Austen's life. Therefore, I came away from the story more interested in reading Austen's work than continuing on with Patillo's series. Not to mention the ending felt very rushed to me.
I would recommend this book to Austen fans and those of you who love a good chick lit novel, but if you're looking for the full package in a romance novel (e.g., a happy ending), this book isn't the one for you.

There was a lot push and pull in this book between characters' thoughts and their actions vs. how they interacted with others. As a reader, I almost wanted to jump into the book and have an Iyanla Vanzant moment with the characters since it seemed like the characters spent 95% of the book dancing around their issues and never really saying what they wanted to say about the past.
I did enjoy the setting immensely thanks to the fact that the majority of books about travel I read focus on Asia and Europe and not Latin America. The setting was intriguing and I'd love to backpack one day even though I'm squirm at the idea of no showers and germs I can't wash off within .0000000099 seconds (I'm exaggerating).
I'd recommend this book to anyone who's into traveling and wants to get a perspective of what it means to backpack through another country and leave all you know behind.

The synopsis of this book is a little misleading, but the overall plot is very cute and very high school chic. I loved the main character, Charlotte, she was a strong and talented lead and McVoy gave her a magnificent storyline.
I recommend this to readers who just want an easy and quick read that leaves them feeling good.
