I loved the premise of their graphic novel series. I just took off one star because the graphics sometimes looked a bit messy to me, but besides that this series is unbelievably good. Highly recommend.
Loved this one even more than the first. I was happy to see new characters added to the series (...ahem...Gwendolyn) . Overall, I can't wait til whoever checked out volume three at my school returns it.
This didn't live up to the hype for me. I felt completely underwhelmed by the plot and came away with an overall feeling of meh. That being said, upon reaching the last page of this book, my only thought was, "so what if these two characters found each other outside of the computer? What was the point of it all?"
After reading all her published works, I'm starting to think Rowell's work would be better served in movie form. There's nothing really impressive being written, but the need to see the story through to the end keeps me reading each book.

This was a laugh out loud type of book that definitely felt more like a sitcom than a novel. I wasn't too crazy about the ending, but enjoyed the first two parts. I'd recommend it for anyone who needs a laugh. Terry McMillan definitely knows how to write about the normal modern day family without holding any punches.
BTW Phylicia Rashad AND Terry McMillan narrates parts of the audiobook. I was literally over the moon. I love Ms. Rashad and her sister, Debbie Allen to pieces.

I never read this as a kid, but now that I have, it reinforces what my parents taught me about how you can give your all to people you love and they may never be happy until they've used you up. I would definitely like to read this to my nieces and nephews when to get the chance.
I gave this book 2.5 stars.
I'm starting to think that this years crop of new YA Fiction are not for me. I keep getting lured in by beautiful covers only to be bombarded with lackluster plots, unlikeable characters, and poor usage of historical/mythological/scientific discoveries that are not universally known making the authors' reliance on these things as the cornerstone of their books confusing and annoying.
The whole point of Hodge's story seemed to be that Arcadia (the main country in story) needed to be rescued from demons. However, from my reading of Cruel Beauty, there didn't seem to be a single soul in that country who was honestly worth saving.Astraia, the supposed "kind" sister is basically more evil than the main character, Nyx who is labeled thus. The mythological gods who run the show are just creepy and have a knack for popping up out of nowhere just to cause trouble. The Dark Lord a.k.a Iginifex b.k.a Shade c.g.k Marcus Lavericus Lux x.y.z Lux is prone to reiterate the SAME point by ways of different recitations of various myths to Nyx who is so wishy washy that waiting on her or her husband to get to the point left me feeling bored and confused.
If I could've found out the ending to this book without reading through all 365 pages, I would've been thrilled. The concept of the book was interesting, but the execution felt like it was mirrored after a merry go round. I wouldn't have continued with this book if it hadn't been for the help of my audiobook and therefore, can't recommend this book in good faith to anyone.
