At the end of this book I was too speechless to describe what i felt , helplessness ? Sadness? Oppression ?
Sad and unable to stand my helplessness, there was constant question going on in my head when I was reading: why why would such a thing be allowed to happen , why would such oppressors be left unaccountable for their deeds , I cried
It's 2024 the history is repeating itself, It happened and it's still happening, and the world is okey with that ... As it seems There's no Credibility left for the so called "human, children's woman's right " organizations.
Indeed the characters were fiction yet all the major events in this book were not. the colonisation, the massacres, the slaughtering , the evictions, refugee camps , It's amazing how such historical events were conveyed from the perspective of a modest civilian such as rokaia , a fictional character telling a narrative in a very informative neat way not only so that the reader doesn't get bored from historical fiction but to enjoy a great literature and especially empathize.
I believe it's a must to know such history and I feel so lucky that I came across such literature that was informative as much as enjoyable.

ذي تفعله امرأة تشعر أنها بالصدفة، بالصدفة المحضة بقيت على قيد الحياة؟ كيف تسلك في الدنيا إن كان وجودها، كل السنين والشهور والأيام واللحظات الحلوة والمرة التي عاشتها، فضلةَ حركة عشوائية لقدرٍ غريب؟ كيف تسلك في الدنيا؟ تعي ضمنًا أو صراحةً أنها عارية، عارية من المنطق، لاستحالة إيجاد أية علاقة بين السبب والنتيجة أو للدقة استحالة فهم الأسباب حين تتساقط على رأسها نتائج لا تفهم نتائج ماذا، ولم تفعل أي شيء ولم تعِ بعد أي شيء، لا لأنها صغيرة فحسب بل لأن وقوع السقف على رأسها كان نقطة البداية، فلماذا سقط السقف في الأول لا الآخر؟ ماذا تفعل؟ كيف تتعامل مع الدنيا؟ أقول: اختياران لا ثالث لهما، إما أن يجتاحها حس عارم بالعبث، لا فرق، تعيش اللحظة كما تكون وليكن ما يكون ما دام المعنى غائبًا والمنطق لاوجود له والضرورة وهم من بِدع الخيال؛ أو تغدو، وهذا هو الاختيار الآخر، وقد وفّرها الزلزال، كأنها الإنسان الأخير على هذه الأرض، كأن من ذهبوا أورثوها حكايتهم لتعمّر الأرض باسمهم وباسم حكايتهم، أو كأنها تسعى في الدنيا وهم نصب عينيها.
