i honestly really enjoyed this book, despite how genuinely horrifying some of the content was. jennette is a really strong writer, and i’m glad that she didn’t allow her mother to completely snuff out that passion . this book was an interesting peek into what being a nickolodeon star was like in the early 2000s, as well as what being a child actor is like. i think it revealed some deep problems with the acting industry as a whole, especially with regards to the idolization of acting and how it can destroy a childhood. this book, in my opinion, is a must read for a lot of different kinds of people; i’d say especially those who grew up during the 00s, who deal with eating disorders or addiction, and those who have experienced parental abuse might find that this book says what they’ve never been able to put into words.
