Albeit the writing is very lyrical and poetic, i was just too disappointed by the plot. I saw this book everywhere and it was hyped up so much, that it remained in my tbr list for months, convinced that it had to be read. Unfortunately it did not meet my expectations. I expected a weird and dark book, but only reached the bare minimum. I don't think it will stick into my memory and I'm just glad I managed to cross it off my list
I gave it 3.75 only because, despite incredibly interesting and provoking, the author was only discussing the topic and there was no research or study. It didn't tell me anything new or brought further clarity on the subject of climate change, it was just a short brief on the current situation. Yet, very poignant and of course so, so terrifying.
A very informative book that focuses on today's big topics such as faith, gender, environment, artificial intelligency, ethics. I like how each them provides the point of view of one or two philosophers, as well as a comparison with a fictional character. Some chapters were easier for me to read, but I think they were also those more attuned with my interests.
Very dark and sometimes unsettling story about a woman that, after a series of disturbing dreams, stops eating meat. When I started reading this book I thought that this was its main story and that it would have revolved on it, but it is much deeper and each turn makes it more and more dream-like, hallucinogenic, sensual. The writing is beautiful and the author was able to describe both beauty and horror
A very interesting book about the function of fantasy, imagination, creativity and discovery in art. It encourages the reader to take part in these artistic exercises and awakens in them their inner child.
