So so interesting to read these, even though the tales are mostly bleak. Ted Hughes has a beautiful way with words which made this so readable.

The perfect nostalgic audiobook for while I was ill. I know bits of it haven't aged well but I just love Anne and Avonlea and these characters so much

Absolutely excellent. The narration, the plot and its twists, the characterisation. Definitely has rekindled my ancient Rome fascination.

An underwhelming end to the series, but fun nevertheless.

Fun nostalgic read but it does feel really strange to be rooting for relationships between what are kids and adults for us today, but would have been fine at the time. Clever plot, informative about Rome. I love the way she talks about faith.

Thought a lot about this book while I was reading it. I love these core 4 practices - I've already started weaving them in to my life. They look quite different for me to JMC sometimes, and I feel like this book is often written about the things whuch work for him. He also idealises the past a lot! But, this is a really challenging book and one which is already changing the way I live and practice my faith. So interesting! I bet i'll have many conversations off the back of this book...

SO good. Not quite 5 stars because at times the writing was a bit too pretentious for my liking. But that almost didn't matter. I loved her character work, I loved the way she played around with how she told the story, the creativity of it, the flash backs/forwards. So good!

This was a beautiful book which gave me a lot to think about. I found the writing style a bit clumsy, but there was so much heart behind it that I didn't really mind.
