Synopsis: The story is about a girl who wants to be a model like her mother. The book is written in the form of episodes. The first episode is about the protagonist, Kallie, wanting to take part in Model Middle America, a modeling gig. While preparing to go, her paternal grandmother, who is a leading physicist, comes into the picture and that's how the actual story starts.

First of all, the cover. I know it's beautiful but I still want to say that it's really beautiful. It was because of this cover only that at first I was so excited to read this book.

Now moving forward, The point to be noted is that her mother left her family in pursuit of her dreams and though the protagonist, Kallie, misses her mother gravely, she still admires her a lot and wants to walk in her shoes. Her father is deeply engaged in his business to provide for his family and so there exists a hole in her life for a proper family. So when she has to go to the gig and can't go because her father is very busy, her grandmother enters. This is kind of the major point of the book.

I liked the general idea of the story but I didn't like the protagonist very much. Although I had sympathy with her, it was difficult for me to relate to her along with the fact that I kind of hated her social cycle. This made the story a little less appealing to me. But the thing I liked the most was that it is written in episodes. This means that I was able to visualise how it would look like in a thirty or one hour TV show and that visual was pretty awesome. I liked the fact that the story ended in kind of suspense or cliffhanger. This ensured that I was eager enough to read the next part. It was also equal parts dramatic which is expected of episodes, so on that basis, it was perfectly good. There was also a base for the subsequent parts in this book which were easily recognizable, so this was also a major reason why I was piqued with curiosity.

So, I liked the book. And I am looking forward to read the second part as soon as possible. And just to mention it, I think the grandmother is a total badass. So I really want to read more about her.

Cover - 5/5 ; Characters - 3/5 ; plot - 3.5/5

" "There’s nothing that will cure an empty stomach like a broken heart, Kallie." "

I was provided with a review copy by the publisher.

As the title suggests, it's a story of a bridesmaid in the TV reality show who wants nothing but a) have a decent and beautiful wedding for her sister and b) make sure that she finally gets her big chance. The jerk here is a mysterious man (not that mysterious except you don't really know what goes in his head most of the time).

I really enjoyed the reading and it was sure one that hooked me up in the starting. For me, it was kind of a different plot with TV reality show being into action. It was written through the perspective of both the characters which made it even better to read.

"He wasn’t, but something about her brought out the teasing schoolboy in him."

I really enjoyed the pair of Sienna and Fox. Sienna was a character that I really liked despite the fact that she might be a bit 'too' much because honestly, she didn't seem too much. Fox had me thinking between the lines of killing and adoring him. In the starting it didn't make sense why he was being portrayed as the jerk but as the story progressed, it was evident that he was kind of 'too' much. For me he just sometimes behaved like a big boy. But in spite of this, I really liked both of the characters as they had a deeper understanding running between them.

It was a quick read for me and I sure had a pleasant time reading it.

Synopsis: This book is about a girl who was named Lucky by her mother because she had won a jackpot while she had her baby in her belly. So, Lucky lived with her grandparents since she was a little child. But at the age of fifteen, her grandpa died and it was discovered that her grandma had Alzheimer after a terrible accident. Due to this, she is moved from one foster home to another as accidents keep happening.

This book is about the quest to find a sense of familiarity when things begin to change drastically in your. It talks about several social issues and stigma we face in today's world, discussing homophobia, the general notion about how a religion is practiced, racism etc. It talks about how difficult it is to find a good foster home, homes which can be trusted.

I liked the way the story begin and it was purely a joy to see the relationship between Lucky, her grandparents and Ryan, her best friend.

By the time he left, we had made plans to explore my basement together the next day and had already decided we were going to be best friends forever.

Nothing had changed. But his parents weren’t like me. Or you. Or anyone normal you’ve ever met. His parents were religious.

“Don’t ‘Grandma’me!”Her eyes were blazing. “This…”she gestured at Ryan’s bruised face. “This is not all right. And it’s certainly not ‘Christian.’”

Her best friend was gay and as his family was 'religious', he was kicked out of their house. This is one mention of discrimination mentioned in the book. At her first foster home she had to deal with a pedophile and a family which felt like had come from the past. It was that bad. Apart from that, as Lucky was switching from house to house, she had to deal with particularly racist people who didn't know anything better. During such encounters, she had resorted to physical violence, which, truth be told, is particularly satisfying when you are dealing with turmoil in your life. But despite this, Lucky finally found a place she could call home after the rollercoster seeming life she had to live in a span of few weeks.

So yes, I really liked this book. Especially the ending which reflected how despite problems in your life, you'll always find people with whom you feel you belong.

I sat beside her son who still hadn’t said a word to me. “Hi,” I said, smiling at him. He flushed and looked away. “Bobby, say hi to Lucky,” Mary instructed him. “Hi,” he muttered. Okay then. Off to a great start. Clearly we were destined to be BFFs.

I daresay that I read it without any judgements. And for me, at this stage, it is of extreme importance as I just cannot handle all the drama surrounding high school romance anymore. But I seriously loved this book and below are the reasons for it:

1. It had sports in it.
2. For once, I cannot define this book in any categories (which is hard to find these days).
3. I did not include any romance between popular girl/boy and unpopular boy/girl. More like they were pretty much known in their own circle of friends.
4. I liked both the characters equally which is saying something. And actually not only the main characters but everyone in this book because each one had something to look forward to (except Freddy).
5. I loved the fact that the best friends had something sacred between them.
6. I liked the whole basic theme of this story!

Now that I have given my list of the reasons why I liked this book, I'll give a brief description of this book.

So basically, we have this group of three best friends who make a squad goal for each year with the aim of fulfilling it. At the beginning of the senior year of their high school, Addy decides to make 'Hot By Halloween' as her squad goal (to make her ex boyfriend regret breaking up with her - which she realises at the end shouldn't be her squad goal). She joins the school swim team to have a hot bod (I know the aim is not that appreciative but it works for me because dude, swimming does make you more fit). Here, she meets Gray who is a new student and literally lives swimming. He badly wants to get a scholarship to move out of Minnesota. And thus the story begins with two of them having very different objectives of being in the swim team but finally finding a common ground to be with each other.

And that's how the story progresses and it does get more interesting after that. What made this book even more nice was the fact that I like the determination that these characters have in this book. That's something I'll never get tire of.

So I give this book 4.5 stars for all the goodness it gave me!

To be honest, I seriously loved the fact that no one left towards the ending. Like no one. And that fact alone is something that you should appreciate. Anyways, I seriously enjoyed it. Especially because Lacy and Andrew made a really interesting characters and the plot was in some ways different from the other ones (I hope I don't say that everytime I read a sorta sequel

As far as my experience goes for prequels, this one was a really entertaining and beautiful one. It describes how deep the relation between Lani and Jay is. Not only that, but it actually raises a question for the fact that there might be some other intelligent species other than humans which believe that we don't exist (well, discovering something like that would be really exciting if nothing else). I really liked the whole concept on which the storyline is based and I'm eager to read the first book in the series!

Marvellous!
I couldn't help but fall in love with Sky and Riley. Their chemistry was superb. But what's important here is that I felt that the story line was quite different from the other White Horse Creek books. They both acknowledged the chemistry between them at first but then they decided to maintain distance between them still knowing that it was very difficult to do so. I liked the character of Riley and Sky equally... They both were amazing. And while reading, it's very hard to realize that Riley had served time. So all in all, I truly fell in love with this book and couldn't help but wish for more of them.

Gosh. This was one hell of a journey!

Take a chance on me is about two people who finally get together in the end after going through really rough years. But it's much more than that. It's about setting your dreams and goals, about how to deal with hardships and about how when things don't go as planned, you don't lose hope. It talks about new beginnings and the strength one should have to face them. Also, amidst all the pieces of your broken heart, you'll find several small pieces that continue to love and be loved.
The book was truly sweet and beautiful to read.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I don't know as a matter of fact how I should proceed with this review. For starters, this book is intense. Not a murder-thriller types intense but intense at a totally different level. At first I didn't know what to expect from this book but as I started reading it, I was so glad that I picked it up. I wouldn't have wanted to miss this one.

Lost Avalon tells you about two people who have been there for each other forever, fighting off complicated situations and experiencing utter misery. They have been broken too little pieces which are very difficult to rejoin. In spite of this, they find their way to each other, fight their inner demons, their insecurities and their addictions.

It's just I picked this book because of the fact that I love the way K. S. Thomas writes. But this book was surely amazing beautiful and expressive and there is no way in thousand years that I am going to forget it. Also, I just love the whole troubled artist/musician/romantic at heart version.
