Real thug tears were shed at the end of this. This volume really kicks you in the chest and for me answered the long question of which is better, the graphic novel or the show? The graphic novel is winning. This literally destroyed the rest my day. Can't wait for the next one!
Read this years ago and just discovered I hadn't had it marked as Read.
Beautiful illustrations. So beautiful that the baby tore a page. Sorry library.
Everyone in this book is horrible. Rasheeda ain't ____. Kordell ain't ______ and Berlin ain't ______. I know women with successful careers are vulnerable but with Berlin being one of the best in the wedding business she sure was a cry baby and stupid. And her and Rasheeda didn't seem like sisters. Rasheeda kept doing Berlin wrong and Berlin kept letting her because Rasheeda's family took her in as a teenager. I'd be thankful but you can't let people walk over you. Kordell was a creep. Even though I gave this two stars, I'd read the sequel if there is one coming just to see how crazy Rasheeda gets.
A few months ago while going through my free urban kindle books downloading spree I ended up paying for this thinking it was free when it wasn't. I noticed the 99 cents charge on a statement and then looked up what book it was. I'm a bit of a heathen and noticed it was an urban Christian book and smacked my lips thinking it wouldn't be good. I decided to go ahead and read it since the authors got my coins and man it was a great read.
This book had it all. I loved Mama Jean's character. Gavon made me want to smack him early on in the book. I wanted Chardonnnay to go on somewhere and that Chastiti was an angel. There isn't any cussing in this but it does get graphic. There were a few things that had me scratching my head. One being were people writing "lol" in letters twenty years ago? Also I wondered why Gavon went back to Chardonnay's house after he was stabbed, knowing she had something to do with it. Gavon acted really slow at times.
Mama Jean dying was quick and sudden just like death is.
While reading the ending I wanted Gavon to tell Chardonnay to get the hell out of the church. All in all it was an excellent story with a wonderful message. It isn't too late to turn your life around. Forgive people.

I'm glad I reread this because there was so much I had forgotten. J.K. Rowling has a knack for creating these amazing worlds and making you feel like you are right there in them. It was nice seeing Harry go from a kid getting picked on in the muggle world, to a strong heroic young man in the wizarding world, ready to put his life on the line to save everyone. I loved the moment when they all knew they were a tight trio after Hermoine was almost killed. I want to pinch Hagrid sometimes because he can be so gullible but he has a good heart. This was a good read.
I'm so sad that Pebbles/Peyton is finally gone. She has to be one of my favorite disturbed characters. I almost fell out when Pebbles stole a kids hover board and yelled WON'T HE DO IT! OMG. The officers they had watching Pebbles in the hospital and the ones they had watching Adrian's house were trash. As soon as I heard Pebbles had escaped, I would have been in a different country. I thought it was hilarious how Pebbles kept acting like she was Halle Berry with half her face gone. Midnite, I wish this series could keep going. Hmmm...maybe have AJ go the same route as his mother. I don't know but like I said earlier I'm sad this is over. I would have given this 5 stars but the errors were getting to be a bit too much and at one point Jennifer was called Jessica a few times. Even with the errors, this was still hot fiyah. Thanks for giving us this series Midnite.
