while the first book in the trilogy was enjoyable yet confusing, this one had a much clearer tone but felt boring. i liked the characters and they did develop but it felt so minor compared to everything that was happening around them (which wasn't all that much). hoping for book 3 to be more ambitious and complex!

loved the tone, didn't like the structure. and yes, i, too, will forever be tied to my best friend in a way no cis man will ever understand.

i didn't want to put this down and had a great time with edwin, robin and the entire set of characters. but i haven't had this amount of trouble following a book in years! it took me multiple attempts to start and actually understand the first chapter and while i enjoyed the language, albeit beautiful, it felt far from smooth to me. the magic system was intriguing but definitely needs to be explained more clearly in the sequel.

the exploration of sisterhood was lovely but this book just couldn't really get me to truly care about the mc (or anyone at all).

fun but boring, way too long, strange pacing, weak plot, likable characters that weren't fleshed out enough, weird plot twist.

enjoyable beginning and weak ending that left so much room for things to be explored. mental illness rep was well done and every character felt distinct and real. needed 30 more pages.

more enjoyable than acotar. i liked the characters but something about the way they were crafted was always lacking and felt artificial. somehow the sex scenes got worse. the flirting was a catastrophe. so many fillers.
