How to Tell a Story: The Essential Guide to Memorable Storytelling from The Moth by Kate Tellers, Meg Bowles, Sarah Austin Jenness, Jenifer Hixson, Catherine Burns

informative fast-paced

4.0

cute little handbook about verbal storytelling by the directors of an open mic storytelling event, the moth. lots of good tidbits of advice about structure, openings, endings, and figuring out the format of your story. really chock full of good examples from existing moth stories! while the advice is tailored to the event itself, there are helpful tips for other occasions where stories may be shared -- toasts, eulogies, job interviews, etc. what stands out the most in this book, however, is how adamantly it emphasises that storytelling is not about finding the perfect handbook at all, but about connecting with people, about creating emotion, and telling the story in you.
