My Fourth Time, We Drowned: Seeking Refuge on the World's Deadliest Migration Route by Sally Hayden

4.0

I did not love this book. It was difficult to read emotionally and sometimes the organization got a little muddled. It seemed like it was trying to do 2 things--tell the story of the immigrants and refugees who are trying to make it to Europe and explain the corruption of the UN organizations who say they are helping but often are not. I would have liked a book better that followed the immigrants story or a book that detailed the corruption and thoroughly explained all of the twists and turns of how that came about. As it was, I felt both sides of the story suffered. However, it is a very important topic that is not discussed very much. Essential reading but a bit of a slog.
