I binge read the TAKEN trilogy over a few days and enjoyed the whole thing. FORGED might be my favorite of the books, mostly because the irritating love triangle has disappeared. Gray makes up his mind about which girl he wants at the end of FROZEN and doesn't waver on that decision, thank goodness. Other than that, FORGED is like the other books in the series: fast-paced, compelling, and entertaining. The characters are likable and sympathetic, even though there's not tons of character development in this series. Gray, for example, is pretty much the same person throughout. I would definitely have liked to see him grow more over the course of the books. As far as plot, there's nothing really new, original, or even surprising about this series. The plot "twists" are all pretty predictable. Still, it's a solid series. The characters are nothing special, but they're likable. The plots are standard YA dystopian fare, but they're entertaining. The prose is not as dynamic as it could be, but it's still engaging. All in all, then, I would give the trilogy about a B-. If I could, I would give this book (and the series as a whole) 3 1/2 stars; since I can't, I'm rounding up.
