The Maze Runner by James Dashner

4.0

4.5
It all started with a memory loss, a klunk situation, and a touch of memory.
Thomas wakes up in a box, he has few memories and lots of questions. Doors open and he's thrust into a world of young boys, strange words and terror. There is something, in his memories tugging but not revealing. He feeling like he's been here or knows this place but no, oh he doesn't know. He just knows he is to be a runner.
This world he is now is is a wonder of questions, where do mysterious supplies come from. What are the Grievers ? What is this wall that moves ? Where is the exit to this maze of death ? Yes, it is some weird maze with deadly creatures roaming, hunting the boys. Many have failed, there is a graveyard that shows that. Even with all this there is a sense of normality, cooking, eating, farming, cleaning, medical aid. But where did they all come from and why ?
Days after Thomas arrives things hit a tornado, A girl comes in the box she says everything is going to change. Oh boy it that an understatement. Things change, death comes for some, insanity for others. The maze is not done with them yet.
Action, mystery, adventure and wonderful lovable and wicked characters. I read this at the recommendation of my daughter, she loved it, and I can see why. I felt like a feel into the matrix with all the steps and layers that build on top of each other to make a simple story complex. Thrilled and excited, is how it left me. I am off to find book 2 in this trilogy
OMg Cliffhanger ! Grumble, Grumble, Grumble...
