Just One of the Groomsmen by Cindi Madsen
4.0
Honest confession: I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. Romance novels are a great break and I usually use them as a kind of palate cleanser. I picked this one up on sale and decided to read it on a whim.
Man, that has been one of the best decisions I've made in a while!
I love tomboy characters (being one myself) so I knew I would enjoy reading this but I had no idea HOW MUCH I would enjoy it. It was wonderful. I love Addie and Tucker's whole group of friends. They're distinct but mesh well together. And Lexie seemed to slot right in. The will-they-won't-they tension between Tucker and Addie worked beautifully. It was just right. I never once felt like the pacing was off. The flow kept me turning page after page.
Watching Addie flourish was a magical thing, too. It was subtle and understated and perfect for the atmosphere and her character. She bloomed more than had an arc; it was so heartwarming. And that's really what I was left with after finishing the story: warmth and a smile.
I cannot wait to see more of these characters. I'm particularly intrigued by Easton but I'd happily read Ford's story, too!
