Plot or Character Driven: A mix

As a fan of Little Women, I was curious to see how Brooks would render the mostly absent father’s voice. There are bits of this book that are lovely, and I appreciate the fictionalized accounts of how freed people attempted to make their way against the odds. I did skim a chapter or two when the character of March got on my nerves for his overblown sense of self, but he isn’t supposed to be a wholly likable character after all.
