The Au Pairs by Melissa de la Cruz

3.0

This was a decent book about 3 girls from very different walks of life who are hired to work as au pairs for 4 kids from a wealthy family for the summer in the Hamptons. Eliza is the former rich girl who is having problems adjusting to life without a lot of money, Jacqui is the Brazilian girl who takes the job to search for a guy that she met while he was on vacation, and Mara is the middle-class, small town girl who wants to earn money for college. Obviously the realistic factor is pretty much nil: the girls are completely unqualified to be nannys, they party all the time, yet are never caught. I also got annoyed at the obscene amounts of money that the characters were described as spending (but that could also be due to my lack of a job right now). It was a cute, quick read that had a (if slightly forced) happy ending and I give it a B--.
