Hard to put down alt-fantasy history of 19th century Oxford.

What I liked -
The magic system - different take on magic words and how they powered England.
The characters - characters were people with dimensions and easy to care about.

What I was neutral on -
The mini interruptions setting up the translation, the power for different linked pairs. Entomology is neat, but I skimmed over these in wanting to know what was going to happen next.
