The Vast Fields of Ordinary by Nick Burd

5.0

I adored this book. I truly did. This story was amazing, and Nick Burd is now an author to keep an eye on in my opinon. The main character, Dade, was an extremely relatable protagonist. Pablo is the definition of tragic, closeted high school jock-boy. Alex. Oh, Alex. I liked Alex ALOT. ALOT ALOT. But. I always had my hopes up for Pablo to have a happy ending. I cried at the end of the book. Bawled like a baby. It was such an amazing book, and I think the reason it was so utterly wonderful was that it wasn't a fairy tale ending. It was sad. It was depresing. It made me cry. It was real. I was upset at how it ended, but I really don't think it could've ended any other way, and still stayed a relatable story. Wonderful book. Absolutely stunning.
