This volume of the 13 issue Kindly Ones comics arc of Sandman is a sweeping epic, drawing threads from throughout the mythology of the overarching story, and it is wonderfully satisfying. So many characters appear or reappear into scenarios that bring all new nuances to their lives. This is the volume that answers so many questions that were up in the air and I got chills when the explanation from the previous arc, World's End, finally made more sense in a very cinematic way here.
Honestly, the only reason this doesn't get a 5 from me is that there's so much animal death early on.
